The last fast

Tomorrow is (hopefully) the last test in this round from my GI – for SIBO.  Thank goodness it’s only an hour long.  So far, it hasn’t been too bad.  I have eaten  a lot of chicken and rice during this past week, I’ll admit, it does help my intestine.

Anyway, SIBO stands for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth.  To determine whether one has it, you fast and then do a hydrogen breath test.    Apparently when large numbers of gas producing bacteria in the intestine digest food they give off gas and too much gas can cause all sorts of problems.  I’m interested to find out the results…I’ve been negative for Lactose and Fructose tests, this week.

TODAY

I had a vigorous freestyle swim at the pool this morning before I went to my annual primary physical appointment.  It ended up taking most of the afternoon, but I’m glad that I went and am practicing some good self-care by attending the appointment and asking the necessary questions.  I am very pleased with my doctor, I might not always like the things she says, but I’m grateful to be in good hands and guided towards better health.  This is a recent article on just the sort of line doctors sometimes are wary about crossing for fear of upsetting patients.  So glad my doctor tells me like it is.

Do you have a good relationship with your doctor?  Do you get put off when they ‘tell it like it is?’
